Level 1 Safeguarding Awareness

Half‑Day Training Course (4 hours)
This introductory qualification is designed for anyone who may come into contact with children or adults at risk—whether in the workplace, community groups, activity settings or voluntary roles. Learners gain a solid understanding of safeguarding principles and the confidence to recognise, record and report concerns appropriately.
Participants explore key safeguarding themes, including:

Roles and responsibilities within safeguarding

Types of abuse and neglect

Identifying concerns and responding to disclosures

Making informed safeguarding judgements

Reporting procedures and escalation routes
Assessment & Certification

Maximum of 16 learners per course

Minimum learner age: 14 years

Assessment is through a written paper containing open and multiple‑choice questions

Learners must achieve a pass to gain the qualification (no grading; pass or refer)

Successful learners receive an Ofqual‑regulated Level 1 Safeguarding Awareness certificate
This qualification does not have an expiry date. However, ongoing CPD, refresher training and staying up to date with changes in legislation, policies and procedures are essential for maintaining good safeguarding practice.
